A graduate of University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin and Maynooth University, Marianne began her musical studies as a violinist with the Young Dublin Symphonia. She later became involved with the Donegal Youth Orchestra and the UCD Symphony Orchestra. She graduated from UCD in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and French (hons), she continued her studies by achieving a Higher Diploma in Education and a Diploma in Legal Studies. In September 2015, Marianne completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership in Maynooth University.
In September 2005, she commenced her teaching career in Castlerea Community School, Co. Roscommon. In September 2006, she was appointed Music and French Teacher and Co-Ordinator of School Orchestra in The High School, Dublin. During this time, she undertook tours abroad to Prague, in the Czech Republic and within Ireland with the School Orchestra. During these years, she conducted the Orchestra on RTE television, in the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras Festival in the National Concert Hall and in competitions and Feiseanna around the country, including winning the Kilcoole Feis, the Feis Ceoil Secondary School Orchestra competition and the Wesley Feis, both on two occasions.
She continued her training in Conducting by undertaking the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras Conducting course in the Royal Irish Academy of Music in July 2014 and many other Professional Development courses over the course of her Secondary School career. She was elected to the Board of the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras in 2014.
She has extensive experience in the State Examinations system having served as a Superintendent for the State Examinations since 2014 and an Examiner for Certificate examinations (Music) since 2018.
She was appointed Performing Groups Manager of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in September 2018.
A Qualified Piano Teacher, (ALCM) with extensive private teaching experience since 2000, she founded the Portmarnock School of Music, in Portmarnock, Co. Dublin in 2010, where in addition to the management of the school, she teaches Advanced Piano, Theory, Junior Certificate Music and Leaving Certificate Music.
As a Professional Pianist and Organist, she is frequently in demand for Musical Engagements and has held many Residencies as a Pianist. These residencies include the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, The Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, The Four Seasons Hotel (now the Intercontinental Hotel) and The Shelbourne Hotel. She has also performed in Ashford Castle, The Westin Hotel and in Dundrum Town Centre as part of their Christmas Festivities.
From September 2012 to November 2015, she was an Organist and Musician of the Burrow Singers in St. Anne’s Parish in Portmarnock, Co. Dublin.
